Crypto steadies as yields and the dollar ease after hot inflation, but heavy whale shorts keep 24h odds balanced

Official September data show hot inflation: CPI up 0.65% m/m and 3.72% y/y, and preliminary PPI up 1.34% m/m and 6.35% y/y. Today, though, cross-asset conditions are easing: the dollar index, the 10-year yield, VIX and oil are lower and the S&P 500 is higher, while BTC and especially ETH have bounced. Against that, Hyperliquid whales are heavily net short BTC and even more so ETH, and media reports say ETF outflows continue. The official calendar for the coming week is empty, so no major scheduled catalyst falls in the 24-hour window, and given our weak recent track record we stay close to base rates: BTC roughly balanced, ETH with a slight downside tilt.

What moves it:
▼ Hot inflation in official data
▲ Cross-asset relief today
▼ Heavy whale shorts on Hyperliquid
▼ Continued ETF outflows (media only, unconfirmed)
▼ MSCI rules on crypto treasury firms (media only, unconfirmed)

Next 24 hours, chance of up / flat / down:
$BTC
39% / 22% / 39% (flat = within ±0.34%)
$ETH
38% / 19% / 43% (flat = within ±0.42%)

BTC: Easing dollar, yields and VIX and dip-buying below $80,000 are offset by heavy whale shorts, hot inflation and reported ETF outflows; with no scheduled catalyst and a weak recent record, we stay near base rates.
ETH: ETH is bouncing harder today, but whale shorts are heavier there, reports point to outflows from ether funds, and it fell roughly twice as much as BTC in yesterday's slide, so we keep a slight downside tilt.

What would change the view:
BTC: A sharp rebound in yields and the dollar or a VIX spike would tilt the view lower; broad covering of whale shorts would tilt it higher.
ETH: If today's rebound extends with shorts being covered, or equities and bonds stay calm, the downside tilt would be invalidated.
