An account attempting to impersonate the official presence of the famous footballer Neymar—and announcing the launch of a fake "$NEYMAR" token on the Solana blockchain—has been suspended due to suspicious activity.
The crypto research community and users on X identified several suspicious details ("red flags") even before the profile was suspended:
• Location and connection: While the profile displayed a geolocation tag in Hong Kong (likely due to the use of a VPN), it was registered and linked via the French App Store.
• Account history: Created back in February 2011, the account had changed its username 15 times—a common characteristic of accounts purchased by scammers.
• Lack of official endorsement: Neither Neymar nor his official representatives made any statements regarding the launch of such a cryptocurrency, and the links provided led to dubious, newly created websites.
Thanks to user reports and X’s security algorithms, the account was suspended on the very day of the planned launch, helping to protect investors from losing funds to yet another "pump-and-dump" scheme.
