Russia to Ban Direct P2P Crypto Trades From July 2027

• The Bank of Russia confirmed that from July 1, 2027, residents can't trade crypto directly with each other; all trades must go through licensed brokers or exchanges.
• Withdrawals from regulated accounts to self-custody wallets will be barred, and crypto lending is reserved for licensed firms.
• Retail investors can only buy BTC, ETH and USDT, capped at 300,000 rubles a year, under the law Putin signed Aug 4.

Legal, but fully fenced in. The self-custody ban is the part that matters most for users.
