MOON TO DEAD COIN: $CVC (Civic)

$CVC promised to revolutionize digital identity on blockchain. Verify KYC once, use everywhere. Raised $68.75M from Pantera & DCG. Hit $1.70 ATH ($645M cap).

Today: $0.0228. Down 98.6%. Still BELOW ICO price after 9 years.

THE NUMBERS:
• Total raised: $68.75M (Seed $2.75M + ICO $33M + 2017 round $33M)
• ICO price: $0.10
• Backers: Pantera, Blockchain Capital, DCG, Tally Capital
• 1B supply, 100% circulating
• ICO buyers: DOWN 77%
• Market cap: $630M → $22.8M (-98.6%)

WHAT WENT WRONG:

Identity is a TRUST + ADOPTION problem. Businesses trust established KYC providers. Everyone needs the SAME system. A token can't manufacture that.

Users never switched to a crypto ID app. Businesses stuck with Jumio/Onfido. Zero adoption.

You don't need a VOLATILE token to prove who you are. $CVC was bolted-on fuel with no real demand.

Civic kept pivoting to chase narratives: Civic Pass on Solana, now even "AI Agents." The token never recovered. Classic pivot desperation.

LESSONS:

🚨 SOME PROBLEMS A TOKEN CAN'T SOLVE. Identity needs institutional trust + mass adoption. A coin creates neither.

🚨 IF THE SERVICE DOESN'T NEED A VOLATILE TOKEN, THERE'S NO DEMAND. (See $REP, $SRM, $DENT.)

🚨 TIER-1 VCs AREN'T A PRICE FLOOR. Pantera, Blockchain Capital & DCG backed it. Still -98.6%.

🚨 CHASING EVERY NEW NARRATIVE = RED FLAG. Identity → DeFi → Solana → AI Agents. Re-skinning for each trend screams lost relevance.

Useful idea. Top VCs. Sold-out ICO. Token STILL bled 98.6% below ICO price 9 years later.

Why? Identity is a trust problem a token can't buy.

Ask yourself: Does it even NEED a token? Can it win mass adoption?
