These Stocks Offer Some of the Best Risk-Adjusted Upside on Wall According to CNBC, a screen of S&P 500 stocks found names with some of the highest prospective risk-adjusted returns, based on Wall Street analysts' price targets and options-implied volatility over the next 12 months. The list includes Nvidia, Broadcom, Boeing, T-Mobile, Wynn Resorts, Micron Technology, Oracle, Western Digital and AppLovin, and was inspired partly by a Goldman Sachs strategy that compares a stock's potential excess return with its 12-month implied volatility.
Wynn Resorts topped the screen, with analysts expecting the casino operator's shares to rise about 70% to reach their consensus 12-month price target. The stock has fallen nearly 14% over the past month, but all 25 analysts tracked by FactSet rate it positively. T-Mobile ranked near the top as well, with analysts seeing roughly 54% upside from current levels even after the wireless carrier's shares dropped nearly 16% over the past month. Micron Technology also stood out, with analysts forecasting nearly 70% upside to the consensus price target.
Nvidia was an exception in the screen, gaining about 5% over the past month while its consensus price target stayed essentially unchanged. Analysts still see more than 40% implied upside, and more than 90% of analysts covering the Jensen Huang-led chipmaker have positive ratings. Western Digital showed one of the largest potential returns, with analysts forecasting roughly 80% upside, though its elevated implied volatility made it one of the riskier names by that measure.
