Will September CPI Shake Oil & Treasuries?

#CPIWatch

Oil is becoming a key variable for the next inflation reading. With Middle East tensions adding uncertainty to energy markets, another jump in oil prices could put fresh pressure on US inflation.

My view: If September CPI comes in hotter than expected markets may start pricing in a more hawkish Fed outlook. That could push Treasury yields higher and put additional pressure on Treasury prices.

For oil, I’m watching whether prices can sustain their recent strength or whether the geopolitical premium starts to fade. A pullback in energy prices could ease some inflation concerns, but the risk of sudden volatility remains.

My trading approach: Oil: Watch price action before chasing a rally. Treasuries: Stay cautious until CPI confirms the next direction for yields. Risk management: Keep position sizes controlled and avoid overreacting to the headline.

The key question is.. whether higher energy costs will translate into broader inflation pressure.

What’s your take - hotter CPI, higher yields, and more upside for oil, or will the market surprise us?
