STX, the native token of Bitcoin layer-2 project Stacks, has surged more than 50% in four weeks, outperforming bitcoin, ether and XRP. STX has gained nearly 10% in 24 hours and 14% over the past week. The outperformance likely reflects investor interest in Stacks' non-custodial bitcoin staking architecture, which lets BTC holders earn yield while retaining control of their private keys. Bonding Period 3, due in November, requires participants to lock STX worth roughly 5% of their BTC's total value alongside their BTC to secure protocol stacking capacity.
