The UK High Court ruled that Chinese law, rather than English law, governs Chinese investors' property rights claims over bitcoin, according to a judgment obtained by Caixin. The cross-border recovery dispute involves over 61,000 bitcoins linked to the Tianjin Blue Sky Gerui illegal fundraising case in China. Approximately 16,000 Chinese victims participating in UK recovery proceedings may be unable to share in bitcoin's appreciation gains and may recover only principal and interest.
