đŠ EUROPE'S BITCOIN INVESTMENT PRODUCTS ARE GETTING MORE SOPHISTICATED
Bitcoin investment products are evolving beyond simple BTC price exposure.
European issuer HANetf recently launched what it describes as the world's first:
EURO-HEDGED BITCOIN ETC
The idea is simple.
Bitcoin is normally priced in U.S. dollars.
That means a European investor can be exposed to two separate movements:
âą Bitcoin price
âą EUR/USD exchange rate
A euro-hedged product attempts to reduce the second risk.
Why does that matter?
Large European portfolios already hold significant exposure to:
âą U.S. stocks
âą Dollar bonds
âą Commodities priced in dollars
Some institutional investors may want Bitcoin exposure without adding even more USD currency exposure.
Important:
Currency hedging does NOT reduce Bitcoin's own price volatility.
BTC can still move dramatically.
The hedge only aims to reduce the effect of EUR/USD movements.
This is another sign of Bitcoin's transition.
The first products answered:
âHow do we get exposure to BTC?â
The next generation is asking:
âHow do we fit Bitcoin precisely into an institutional portfolio?â
