Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has outlined a future where interacting with blockchain networks may look very different.

Speaking at the OKX NOW 2026 summit in Singapore, Buterin said AI agents could increasingly handle complex on-chain operations directly — potentially replacing traditional websites and dashboards for some tasks.

He gave a striking example: about a month ago, he updated his ENS information using a local AI agent, without using a conventional user interface. The task reportedly took around five minutes.

But there’s a major catch.

AI could reduce certain risks associated with compromised web interfaces, but it introduces new risks of its own: prompt injection, incorrect transaction interpretation, and malicious or vulnerable AI agents.

That means the next phase of crypto may not simply be AI + blockchain.

It could be AI controlling how humans interact with blockchain.

And if that happens, security standards may have to evolve just as quickly.

DYOR. AI automation does not remove blockchain risk.
