Bitcoin reaching $100,000 before the end of 2026 sounds like a huge move, but from the current $80K region, the real question is whether the market has enough momentum to close the remaining gap.

The first challenge is getting through the resistance sitting above the current price. Bitcoin has repeatedly shown that major psychological levels can attract both breakout buyers and traders looking to take profit.

For me, $90K is the first major checkpoint.

If Bitcoin can break above $90K and hold it as support, the conversation around $100K could change very quickly. Once BTC enters the $90Ks, six figures will naturally become the level everyone watches.

But simply touching $90K wouldn’t be enough.

A healthy move would need continued buying pressure and strong follow-through. If Bitcoin keeps breaking resistance only to fall back below it, reaching $100K becomes much harder.

Institutional demand could also play an important role. Consistent demand through regulated investment products and larger investors can help absorb selling pressure when long-term holders decide to take profits.

Macro conditions matter too.

Interest-rate expectations, inflation, liquidity and the strength of the U.S. dollar can all influence investors’ willingness to take risk. A supportive macro environment could give crypto more room to run, while an unexpected shift could quickly cool momentum.

There’s also the psychological side of $100K.

Round numbers attract attention. As Bitcoin gets closer, excitement can rise quickly, but so can profit-taking. The final few thousand dollars could therefore be more difficult than they appear.

Altcoins would be watching closely as well.

A controlled Bitcoin rally toward $100K could improve confidence across crypto. But if BTC moves too aggressively, liquidity may stay concentrated in Bitcoin rather than immediately flowing into smaller assets.

The bearish scenario shouldn’t be ignored.

If Bitcoin loses its major support zones and begins forming lower highs and lower lows, the path toward $100K could be delayed. Markets rarely move in a straight line, especially after large rallies.

So, can Bitcoin reach $100K before 2026 ends?

Yes, it’s possible—but $90K comes first. I’d rather watch how Bitcoin reacts at each major resistance level than assume six figures are guaranteed.

The closer BTC gets to $100K, the bigger the battle between FOMO and profit-taking could become.

What comes first: Bitcoin at $100K or another major correction?
