🇧🇫🎗️ BURKINA FASO INTRODUCES MAMMATYPER FOR FASTER BREAST CANCER DIAGNOSIS
Burkina Faso has introduced MammaTyper, a molecular diagnostic technology designed to identify the molecular subtype of breast cancer in just six hours, helping doctors determine the most appropriate treatment for each patient.
The technology has been installed at the CHU de Bogodogo in Ouagadougou and CHU de Pala in Bobo-Dioulasso through the Presidential Health Initiative. Authorities say it is expected to reduce the need for medical evacuations for molecular tumor subtyping, while services will be available to Burkinabè patients at subsidized rates.
According to the figures provided by Globocan, Burkina Faso recorded nearly 15,000 cancer cases in 2024, including more than 2,100 breast cancer cases and approximately 1,000 deaths. During Pink October 2026, health authorities are also encouraging women to take advantage of free breast cancer screening.
