The crypto market is starting to feel different. After a long period where Bitcoin controlled most of the attention, several altcoins are beginning to show stronger moves, higher trading activity, and renewed interest from traders.

That naturally brings back one big question: Are we finally entering altseason?

Bitcoin Usually Opens the Door

Historically, altcoins often perform best after Bitcoin has already made a strong move and begins to stabilize. When BTC stops absorbing most of the market’s liquidity, traders may start looking elsewhere for higher-risk opportunities.

The usual rotation can look something like this: money enters Bitcoin first, then attention shifts toward Ethereum and other large-cap coins, and eventually some of that liquidity reaches mid- and smaller-cap altcoins.

That rotation is what traders are looking for now.

A Few Pumps Don’t Make an Altseason

This is where things get interesting.

Seeing five or ten altcoins jump sharply doesn’t necessarily mean the entire altcoin market has entered a new bullish phase. Individual coins can rally because of listings, ecosystem news, narratives, short squeezes, or temporary speculation.

A stronger altseason would normally involve broader participation. Instead of only a handful of trending coins moving, strength would start appearing across multiple sectors of the market.

That distinction matters.

Bitcoin Dominance Is One of the Biggest Clues

Bitcoin dominance tells us how much of the total crypto market belongs to BTC.

When dominance remains strong, Bitcoin is generally still controlling a large share of market liquidity. If BTC dominance starts falling while the overall crypto market remains healthy, it can suggest capital is rotating toward altcoins.

This is one of the signals I would watch before calling a full altseason.

Ethereum Could Be Important

Ethereum is another piece of the puzzle.

A strong and sustained ETH move can improve sentiment across the wider altcoin market because Ethereum remains one of crypto’s largest ecosystems. Traders often pay close attention to the ETH/BTC relationship as well.

If ETH starts consistently outperforming Bitcoin, the altseason conversation becomes much more interesting.

Not Every Altcoin Will Win

This cycle may also look different from previous ones.

There are now thousands of tokens competing for the same pool of capital and attention. That means liquidity can become fragmented, with money concentrating around a few strong narratives rather than lifting almost everything at once.

So even during a strong altcoin market, selection matters.

AI, DeFi, RWA, gaming, meme coins, Layer 1s and other narratives can each have their moment, but hype alone doesn’t guarantee long-term strength.

The Real Signal Is Rotation

Instead of asking whether one particular coin pumped 30%, I’m more interested in where money is moving across the entire market.

Is Bitcoin cooling while remaining structurally strong? Is Ethereum gaining relative strength? Is Bitcoin dominance declining? Are multiple altcoin sectors breaking higher? Is trading volume expanding beyond BTC?

If several of these things happen together, the case for altseason becomes much stronger.

So, Has Altseason Started?

I think it’s still too early to confidently call a full altseason simply because some altcoins are waking up.

What we may be seeing is the beginning of a rotation phase. If that rotation broadens and capital continues moving from Bitcoin into Ethereum and then deeper into the altcoin market, things could get much more interesting.

For now, I’m watching the signals rather than chasing every green candle.

The real question isn’t whether altcoins can pump. It’s whether the whole market is ready to rotate.
