Putin Orders Further Increase In Russia's Army Size
According to CNBC, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered a further increase in the size of Russia's army, raising the number of active service members by 15,500 to 1,550,500 and bringing total armed forces to 2,441,630. The presidential decree, published Monday on Russia's official legal information database, is the fourth such order this year. The Kremlin did not give a reason for the decision. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Russia has effectively begun a fresh wave of military mobilization and estimated there are more than 8,000 North Korean troops on Russian territory. He also said preparations are underway to deploy another 10,000 troops and that North Korea has established production of Shahed-type attack drones with Russian technical support. Separately, Mayor Vitali Klitschko said a wave of Russian attacks on Kyiv on Monday killed two people and injured 26.
