The crypto market has delivered a very different story depending on which coins you held.
Over the past three months, the biggest lesson has been dispersion: while some altcoins produced explosive gains, the performance of major assets was considerably more mixed.
đ THE BIG MOVERS
Recent 90-day market data highlighted several extreme performers:
đ„ PONS: ~+636%
đ„ USELESS: ~+351%
đ„ ZEC: ~+265%
⥠NEAR: ~+132%
đą ETH: ~+65%
These numbers demonstrate why looking only at Bitcoin or the largest market-cap assets doesnât tell the entire crypto story.
At the same time, extreme upside comes with extreme volatility. A coin that has already risen several hundred percent can experience very sharp pullbacks.
đ WHAT ABOUT BTC?
Bitcoin has recently regained significant momentum. In September, BTC moved above $85,000, reaching an eight-month high, while reports pointed to stronger ETF flows and renewed institutional participation as some of the factors behind the move. (The Wall Street Journal)
This matters because Bitcoinâs direction often influences liquidity and risk appetite across the wider crypto market.
đ ETH IS SHOWING A DIFFERENT STRUCTURE
Ethereum has also attracted attention.
Reuters reported that ETH broke above a technical resistance level after a strong late-August rally, with the move described as a breakout from a bull-flag formation. However, technical levels can fail, so confirmation remains important. (Reuters)
đŻïž WHAT THE CANDLES ARE TELLING US
Price alone isnât enough.
When looking at the Top 100, I would focus on:
đą Large green candle + increasing volume
â stronger evidence that buyers are participating.
đĄ Breakout with weak volume
â possible false breakout.
đŽ Long upper wick
â sellers rejected higher prices.
đą Higher highs + higher lows
â improving market structure.
â ïž Huge candle after an extended rally
â momentum may be strong, but chasing the move becomes increasingly risky.
đ IS ALTSEASON HERE?
This is where things become interesting.
Recent market analysis showed that altcoin participation has been expanding. The CoinMarketCap Altcoin Season Index was reported around 56/100, but the commonly used threshold for a confirmed âAltcoin Seasonâ is 75/100. (CryptoRank)
So the data suggests broader altcoin participation, but it does not mean every altcoin is moving together.
Thatâs why the Top 100 is worth watching as a group rather than simply searching for the coin with the biggest green percentage.
đ THE BIG LESSON
The last three months show three very different categories:
Bitcoin & large caps:
More established liquidity and generally less explosive percentage moves.
Large altcoins:
Potentially stronger upside, but also greater volatility.
Smaller-cap/high-momentum coins:
The biggest percentage gains â and potentially the biggest drawdowns.
đ Donât just ask: âWhich coin went up the most?â
Ask:
âą Was the move supported by volume?
âą Is the trend still making higher lows?
âą Where is the next resistance?
âą Has the coin already moved too far too quickly?
âą What happens if BTC reverses?
Crypto rewards research, but it also punishes chasing candles.
Data > hype.
Volume > FOMO.
Risk management > one big trade.
