🇸🇦🇹🇷🇵🇰 Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Pakistan are preparing an urgent meeting of their military chiefs under the Mecca Joint Defence Agreement, as Houthi attacks on the kingdom intensify.
The pact states that an attack on one member constitutes an attack on all, and the three countries are now discussing how to support Saudi Arabia after strikes targeted areas including Mecca, Jeddah and the crucial Red Sea oil port of Yanbu.
Saudi authorities say they intercepted six ballistic missiles yesterday, while the Houthis claimed to have launched dozens of missiles and drones; Saudi Arabia’s Grand Mufti has even called on troops to be prepared to give their lives fighting the group.
Meanwhile, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian sought to distance Tehran from the escalation, saying: “The Houthis are responsible for their own actions.”
