Bitget has confirmed that approximately $351.6 million in assets were affected by unauthorized transfers from parts of its hot and warm wallet infrastructure on September 24. The exchange said its cold wallets remained secure, while withdrawals were temporarily suspended as a precaution during the security review.
🔐 THE ATTACK VECTOR IS STILL UNDER INVESTIGATION
Early reports have raised the possibility of a third-party or supply-chain compromise involving the wallet authorization process. However, Bitget has explicitly said it will not speculate on the attack path until the investigation is complete. Therefore, claims involving forged transfer instructions or private-key leakage should be treated as unconfirmed for now.
💰 HACKED ASSETS MOVED INTO ETH
Blockchain tracking showed attacker-linked addresses holding roughly 67,980 ETH, alongside other assets including BNB, XRP, USDT, USDC and TRX. The scale and speed of the movements have drawn significant attention across the crypto market.
🛡️ $464M+ USER PROTECTION FUND
Bitget says its User Protection Fund holds more than $464 million, exceeding the estimated amount affected in the incident. Deposits and trading remain operational, while withdrawals are paused pending the security review.
