AI stocks feel like they're running on two different engines right now — real earnings and real infrastructure spend, but also a lot of momentum-driven buying. Nvidia's guidance on chip sales doubling next year isn't hype; the capex numbers from hyperscalers back it up. Compute demand is genuinely outstripping supply in places. That's not the same as saying every AI-adjacent stock deserves its current multiple, though.
On the policy side, talk of an "AI Force" and AI hitting 25% of GDP is the kind of headline that moves sentiment more than fundamentals. State backing can extend a cycle, but it doesn't remove the risk of a correction once expectations get ahead of actual revenue.
I'm leaning cautiously bullish on the picks-and-shovels side (chips, data center infrastructure) over speculative AI-application names — the former has earnings to point to, the latter is mostly a bet on future adoption. Watching compute utilization and hyperscaler capex guidance as my main signals for whether this run has legs.
Not financial advice — just where I'm positioned and why.
