The last seven days of bitcoin, in flow terms rather than narrative terms.

Spot bitcoin ETFs were net sellers across the week: 4,418 coins out. The two corporate treasuries that reported took 2,305 between them, Strategy 950 at about 79,684 and Strive 1,355 at 79,475. Net those legs and real spot demand was negative by roughly two thousand coins.

Over the same stretch price ran from the high 70s to nearly 87,000.

The gap sits in the derivatives book. Glassnode's read is that shorts stacked between 82,000 and 86,000 were covering into the move, and the last day alone cleared 648 million of bearish positions. At roughly 86,500 a coin that is about 7,500 BTC of forced buying, a little over three times the entire treasury bid for the week.

So the composition of this leg is not ambiguous. It was not allocation.

That matters for one reason, and it is not directional. Short covering is a self-exhausting buyer. Every cover lifts price and removes a future buyer from the book at the same time. An allocation bid can be repeated; a covering bid has a ceiling set by whatever is left in the stack, and nobody knows that number precisely, including the people quoting it.

The Strategy and Strive fills landed 209 dollars apart, 0.26 percent, in the same week. Two unrelated treasuries filling that close looks like scheduled execution rather than opportunistic buying. A scheduled bid supports price but does not defend a level, because it does not accelerate into weakness.

On the ETH side the same week shows 62,810 out, then 54,659 back in one session. That is 87 percent of the week's outflow reversed in a day, against 31 percent for bitcoin. Flow that turns on price, not flow that accumulates.

None of this says where price goes. It says what has to happen for the move to continue rather than stall: spot flow turning net positive before the short stack is worked through, not after. That is observable, and within days rather than months.

What would change your read, a full week of positive ETF flow, or a treasury print that is clearly opportunistic?
