Today, IBC continues to serve as an open-source and neutral standard for interoperability. Looking back to March 29, 2021, the very first IBC connection was successfully launched between Cosmos and IRIS Network. Five years on, the protocol currently bridges 115+ digital ledgers and has facilitated the transfer of USD 50B+ in assets. Remarkably, the entire system accomplishes all of this while operating without a third-party intermediary.
