🇯🇵 The Bank of Japan (BOJ) raised its policy interest rate by 25 basis points, as expected, to 1.25%.

▬ The interest rate has thus reached its highest level since 1995.

▬ This marks the BOJ’s second rate hike in 2026.

▬ Of the nine-member board, seven members supported the rate hike, while two voted to keep rates unchanged.

The BOJ noted that the risk of inflation remaining above the 2% annual target has increased.
