World, the digital identity and cryptocurrency project formerly known as WorldCoin, has launched World Money, a self-custodial financial app combining stablecoin payments, digital-asset trading, and rewards across more than 150 countries.

The rollout began on September 17 2026 with features and eligibility varying by jurisdiction, World said. Users can

  • hold supported digital assets,

  • send stablecoins and other tokens to recipients using World usernames,

  • trade assets through integrated exchanges, and

  • deposit eligible assets into programs that generate rewards.

World Money supports balances in eight currencies and includes portfolio tracking, transaction histories, and price alerts. Its Mini Apps ecosystem includes services such as prediction-market platform, Kalshi, and decentralized lending protocol, Morpho.

In the United States, a partnership with payments company, Stripe, allows users to fund World Money through Apple Pay and convert those funds into stablecoins with deposits typically arriving within minutes, World said.

The app’s Earn feature allows users in supported markets to deposit assets including WorldCoin (WLD), USDC, wrapped Ether, and wrapped Bitcoin into on-chain lending programs operated through Morpho. Rewards and availability vary by jurisdiction.

The launch also separates World’s financial and identity functions into two applications. World ID App is focused on identity verification and credentials, while World Money handles wallets, payments, and other financial services. Existing World App and World ID App users can use their existing accounts with World Money.

World said its identity system is intended to provide proof that users are unique humans, which it says can help establish trust in financial transactions as artificial intelligence makes the creation of fake accounts easier.

World Money is operated by Tools for Humanity, the company co-founded by Alex Blania and OpenAI CEO, Sam Altman, that helped launch the World network.

World said World Money is not a bank and that digital assets and stablecoins held through the application are not deposits or insured by government deposit-protection schemes.
