Paradigm Discloses ZEC Investment as Zcash’s Funding Debate Continues
Paradigm co-founder Matt Huang has disclosed that the firm is an investor in both ZEC and Zcash Open Development Lab (ZODL), connecting its exposure to the token with backing for developers building its ecosystem.
His wider message, covered on September 17, 2026, focused on sustainable development funding and governance.
Huang supported funding developers through token issuance, while acknowledging that allocation mechanisms can improve. He also argued that coin-holder voting should work alongside other governance mechanisms to support Zcash’s credibility over time.
My take: Sustainable funding matters because privacy infrastructure requires continuous engineering, security reviews and usable wallets. Investors also need to understand who decides how that funding is spent and how contributors are held accountable.
The practical test is whether resources translate into reliable software, easier private transactions and users who keep using the network. A respected investor can attract attention; those outcomes provide stronger evidence of lasting progress.
The disclosure should also be read carefully: confirming an investment does not establish that Paradigm is buying additional ZEC today. Treating an existing position as fresh demand would go beyond what the announcement establishes.
What would strengthen your confidence in Zcash most: development progress, wallet adoption or clearer governance?
