Ripple has updated its XRP Ledger AI Starter Kit to support Stripe and Tempo’s Machine Payments Protocol, allowing AI agents to make payments using XRP and RLUSD.
The idea is simple, AI agents could autonomously pay for things like data, computing power and other digital services without requiring a human to approve every individual transaction.
The update also adds the Open Wallet Standard, giving developers tools to manage agent wallets while maintaining controls such as spending limits and approved destinations.
The software is still in beta, so there’s no major commercial payment volume to point to yet. But the direction is notable.
