Latest Zcash (ZEC) News — September 17, 2026

99.9% supported reducing block time from 75 seconds to 25 seconds.

98.9% supported keeping the current halving schedule.

96.6% supported delaying the Network Sustainability Mechanism fee reissuance until February 2031.

Around 99.3% supported launching NU7 as soon as it is technically ready.

This points toward faster transactions while maintaining ZEC's scarcity model.

📈 2. ZEC has experienced a major price surge

On September 16, ZEC reached approximately $1,363 intraday, compared with around $485 on August 16.

That represents almost a 3× increase in one month. ZEC also gained roughly 19% in a single day on September 16.

However, such a rapid rally also means high volatility and an increased risk of a significant correction.

⚙️ 3. NU7 is not activated yet

The governance vote does not mean the changes are immediately active on the blockchain. Developers still need to implement and test the upgrade before activation.

🔐 4. Ironwood privacy upgrade

The Ironwood upgrade went live in July. It closed the old Orchard pool and introduced a mechanism for migrating older balances to the new system.

🟢 What does this mean for ZEC?

The latest developments provide strong positive momentum from a technology and governance perspective, but ZEC's price has already risen dramatically and may experience significant volatility.

If you're considering investing, the key things to watch now are support levels, resistance levels, trading volume, and whether the current rally can be sustained.
