Sounds backwards, but the bigger problem for semiconductor stocks may not be one rate hike.
It’s the fear that there’s no clear end to the tightening cycle.
After the June 2022 hawkish FOMC surprise, the S&P 500 barely moved, yet the SOX Index gained roughly 15% over the next three months.
Why? Once markets started seeing a clearer path toward the peak in rates, semis had room to trade on something else: fundamentals.
And right now, AI capex is a pretty big “something else.”
Data centers, advanced chips and AI infrastructure are still driving massive spending, so the semiconductor story isn’t just about what the Fed does next.
For me, the bigger question is: when does the market finally get clarity on where rates peak?
That’s the part I’m watching on the semiconductor setup on BingX TradFi.
