$FIL bouncing 36% from its August low is interesting, but the price recovery isn’t the part of Filecoin I’m watching most closely.
The bigger shift seems to be happening underneath the chart.
Filecoin was originally built around a straightforward idea: create a decentralized marketplace for storage. But having enormous storage capacity available doesn't automatically create an economy. Someone still has to pay to use it.
That’s why the recent push toward verifiable paid storage and Filecoin Onchain Cloud stands out to me.
If $FIL can move from a story dominated by storage capacity to one driven by actual onchain demand from enterprises, developers and AI workloads, the way the market values the network could change significantly.
AI makes this particularly interesting. Models and agents are producing enormous amounts of data, and that data needs storage, verification and long-term availability.
The next phase for Filecoin therefore might not be about proving how much data the network can store.
It could be about proving how much useful data people are actually willing to pay it to store.
Price can recover quickly. Sustainable demand is much harder to manufacture.
What matters more for $FIL long term: increasing storage capacity or increasing paid demand for that storage?
