$BTC 77,816 (+0.6%): testing 77.9K after four closes below it, CLARITY Act vote Tuesday
Market Brief: September 14th, 2026 (Monday)

$ETH 2,527 (+0.2%). Total crypto market cap $2.64T, BTC dominance 58.8%.
Breadth: 15 up / 19 down among liquid pairs.

🔸 BTC: four straight daily closes under 77,862 (this year's 50% retrace, lost September 10th), and today's price is pressing right back up against that level, inside a 76,389 to 77,870 range.
🔸 Movers: CVC +38% and REZ +34% lead gainers, but CVC's perp funding is -1.18% every 4 hours, about -2,577% annualized and the second most negative on the exchange, while its open interest is up 334% today.
🔸 News: the Senate's CLARITY Act cloture vote is set for Tuesday, and Trump reportedly called advisers Friday over a paragraph barring officials and spouses from promoting their own coins (via Binance News).
🔸 BTC futures: funding 0.0100% per 8h, open interest $8.31B (+3.4% in 24h), accounts 1.53 long/short versus 2.25 for top-position traders, the pros are still more long than the crowd.

My read: BTC testing 77,862 directly, after four closes below it, is the first real pressure on that level since it was lost. Top traders running more long than the account base (2.25 vs 1.53) reads like conviction behind the push, but Tuesday's vote could still overtake the level as the bigger catalyst.
What I'm doing: not adding until there's a daily close back above 77,862, watching whether today's test actually holds.
Does BTC close above 77,862 today, or does this test fail like the last four?

I do this every trading day, rain or shine. Follow along if that's useful to you.
