Headline PPI jumped to 5.4% YoY from 4.8% in July.

That should keep inflation fears alive.

But core PPI came in at 0.2% MoM, below the 0.3% expected.

So we basically got a hot headline and a softer core reading at the same time.

Energy prices jumping 4.2% in August makes the 5.4% look even more uncomfortable, but the softer core number gives traders something to work with.

Now the real question is what the market chooses to focus on.

If traders look past the headline, BTC and stocks could get some breathing room.

If 5.4% becomes the number everyone fixates on, rate-cut expectations could take another hit.

I’m watching the reaction across TradFi on BingX.

What matters more here: 5.4% headline or 0.2% core?
