At first glance, August CPI looks pretty boring.
Headline inflation: 3.4% YoY — exactly as expected.
Then you look at core CPI.
0.3% MoM vs. 0.2% expected.
That tiny difference is probably more important for markets right now than the headline number everyone is quoting.
Annual core CPI actually eased from 2.5% to 2.4%, so this isn’t exactly “inflation is back” either.
It’s more of a mixed signal:
Inflation is cooling, but not smoothly enough for the Fed to completely relax.
And that puts the dollar, yields, BTC and gold in an interesting spot.
If rates stay higher for longer, DXY could keep its strength while BTC and gold feel the pressure.
But if the market decides the monthly core print isn’t enough to change the bigger disinflation trend, we could see the opposite reaction.
That’s the part I’m watching on BingX TradFi — not just the CPI number, but what traders decide it actually means.
