HOW TO MANAGE A $2,400 PNL? $ONG 📊
I’ve had this $ONG position open for around 15 days, and for nearly 10 of those days, it was sitting in a significant loss.
Instead of looking at the loss alone, let’s take this as a learning opportunity.
One important thing every futures trader should understand is the funding fee.
Funding is a periodic payment between long and short traders. Depending on the funding rate, either longs pay shorts or shorts pay longs.
For example, if you have a $10,000 position and the funding rate is -1%, the funding payment could be $100 for that funding interval. That can add up quickly, especially when using leverage.
That’s why I always keep an eye on the funding rate before and during a futures trade.
With my $ONG position, I’ve received funding payments around 380 times during the time I’ve held it.
The main lesson? Don’t focus only on PNL. Understand the
full cost and mechanics of your position before taking risks.
Always manage risk first. Profits come second.
I am still earning from it!!
