Yahoo Finance, Bitcoin.com, CryptoSlate,
and CryptoBriefing, a range-proof cache
vulnerability in Blockstream's Elements
code allowed the creation of unbacked L-
BTC on the Liquid sidechain. Those tokens
were sent through SideSwap's authorized
peg-out service, triggering a valid-looking
withdrawal of about 3,996 BTCaround
95% of the federation reserve. The
attackers later returned 3,400 #Bitcoin
after Blockstream patched bridge nodes
and shipped an updated Elements release,
but roughly 598-600 BTC (about $47-50
emains in the attacker's wallet.
