🚨 CPI is out — now the real question: Will the Fed Hike or Hold?

🇺🇸 August U.S. inflation came in with a mixed signal for the Federal Reserve.

📊 Headline CPI: +0.4% MoM | 3.4% YoY
📊 Core CPI: +0.3% MoM | 2.4% YoY

The good news? Core inflation cooled from 2.5% to 2.4% YoY.

But there’s another side to the report.

Core CPI rose 0.3% month-over-month, faster than the previous month's 0.2%. Gasoline also jumped 3.9%, helping push headline inflation higher.

So is inflation actually cooling enough for the Fed to stay on hold?

That’s where things get interesting.

🏦 The Fed meets September 15–16, and markets had been pricing roughly a 70% chance of a 25-basis-point hike around the CPI release.

For me, this isn't simply a “bullish CPI” or “bearish CPI” story.

Bitcoin's reaction is what matters now.

If BTC holds strong despite the hotter monthly core reading, it could show that buyers are already comfortable with the current rate expectations.

But if yields and rate-hike expectations push higher and BTC starts losing support, this CPI could become another headwind for risk assets.

📌 CPI cooled annually.
📌 Monthly core inflation picked up.
📌 Fed hike expectations remain important.
📌 BTC now has to show which side of the macro story it believes.

🔥 My take: This is a mixed CPI — not an obvious green light for Bitcoin, but not a disaster either.

Fed Hike or Hold?
