Job numbers just dropped a bombshell. August smashed forecasts by adding 162K jobs against an expected 53K, while unemployment locked in flat at 4.1%. With the labor market running this hot, the Fed has zero pressure to panic about

employment and can laser-focus entirely on inflation—which explains why rate hike chatter has exploded all week.

Today’s CPI print is the ultimate plot twist right before next week's FOMC meeting. The margin for error is razor-thin: a 0.2% Core CPI print keeps a pause alive, but anything at 0.3% or higher practically locks in a hike to 3.75%-4.00%. To make matters worse, Thursday's PPI came in red-hot at 5.4% annually, fueled largely by energy spikes.

Market pricing is already reacting, with hike odds pushing past 70% heading into the release.

Bullish or bearish for your bags? A surprise hike typically spells short-term pain for equities and gold, whereas a hold could easily trigger a relief rally across the board. What's your play for next week?
