Stimulus checks are back in the conversation. But is $BTC Bitcoin already pricing them in? The proposed $2,000–$3,000 payments are nowhere near guaranteed. Nothing has been signed, and the previous tariff-revenue funding argument was weakened after the Supreme Court struck down the IEEPA tariffs. Yet $BTC has already reacted to the narrative. That makes the bigger question interesting. In 2020, the $1,200 stimulus checks were associated with a measurable increase in retail Bitcoin buying, although the Cleveland Fed estimated the effect on BTC trading volume at only about 3.8%. But 2020 was a completely different environment: Stimulus + QE + rate cuts + cheap liquidity + retail FOMO. Today, there is no comparable QE backdrop. So if another $2K–$3K payment actually reaches consumers, does that liquidity still have the same impact on Bitcoin when $BTC is already trading around six figures? Or has the market already front-run the headline? Same play. Different macro. The real trade may not be the check itself, but whether actual liquidity follows the narrative.
