In Hong Kong, for example, HKT Payment was selected for a pilot program that will test the identification of AI agents in payments.
What’s the catch? A bank knows who you are, but when AI sends money, it also needs to know who exactly controls it, who gave it permission, and whether those permissions are still valid.
HKT is proposing its own solution — “Agentic ID.” It links AI to a real person or company, using verified data and technologies that allow information to be confirmed without revealing more than necessary.
In my opinion, this is a clear signal of where the AI economy is heading.
Giving agents access to money is only half the job. The key is giving them verified data and proof of their authority.
That’s exactly why I’m watching Verona.
