Video Title: Crypto Update Aug 29 2026 – Bitcoin Dips Hard After Fed Speech, Solana Just Made a Big Move
Hey everyone, here’s what’s going on in crypto right now as of August 29, 2026.
Bitcoin had a really solid run this past week. It pushed past $80,000 and even touched around $81,450 at one point — the highest we’ve seen in a few months. A lot of that was driven by strong ETF inflows and some positive macro moves. The whole market felt pretty bullish for a bit, with the total crypto market cap sitting near $2.7 trillion.
Then Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh spoke at Jackson Hole and things flipped. He sounded pretty hawkish on inflation, basically saying there’s still work to do. That raised the odds of rate hikes, and the market didn’t like it. Bitcoin dropped roughly 3% and is now hanging around $77,500–$77,700. We also saw about $488 million in liquidations across the market. Ethereum slid under $2,450, and most altcoins followed lower.
Even with the pullback, Bitcoin is still up solidly on the week overall after that mid-August climb of more than 20%.
Now for one of the more interesting stories: Solana. The network just held its first big on-chain governance vote, and the proposal to double the disinflation rate barely passed. It went right down to the wire — some validators from Kraken and Galaxy switched sides at the last minute. That’s a meaningful change for SOL’s supply schedule going forward. Solana also pulled in a record $60.9 million into U.S. spot SOL ETFs recently, and the price is still holding above $100 even after cooling off a bit.
On the tech side, Ripple is getting the XRP Ledger ready for quantum computers (they’re calling it “Q-Day” prep). Bitcoin and Ethereum teams have also shared their own plans on this, so it’s clearly becoming a real topic.
