Trying to describe our careers to our parents usually leads to a rather confusing conversation. We start by explaining that our work functions a lot like a bank, except a physical bank does not actually exist. We go on to say that it is based on the internet, though it is not the traditional internet they are familiar with. To finish the explanation, we mention that it is American and involves AI. This description is almost always met with a completely blank stare from them. Ultimately, we accept that the simplest solution is to just say we work in tech.
