Bitcoin Is More Than Scarcity
One thing about Bitcoin that keeps standing out to me: its value proposition is not simply that there will only ever be 21 million BTC.
Scarcity is the foundation. But the more interesting question is how that scarcity is maintained.
Bitcoin’s monetary rules are upheld through network consensus. A miner cannot simply create extra BTC and make the network accept it. Independent nodes validate blocks and transactions against the consensus rules they follow, allowing participants to verify whether the system is operating within its defined monetary limits.
That changes the meaning of digital scarcity.
It is not just:
There is a limited amount.
It is:
$The rules defining that limited amount are transparent and independently verifiable.
That combination of scarcity, verification, and decentralized consensus is a major part of what makes Bitcoin different from monetary systems where changes to the money supply ultimately depend on a central authority.
So maybe the more interesting question isn't:
How high can BTC go ?
It is:
What becomes possible when a monetary system can have rules that anyone can verify, but no single participant can unilaterally control ?
