đ Trading Sessions 101: Why the Market Moves When It Moves
Do you ever notice that the market sits still for a long time and then just after it goes crazy with lots of trades? That is not random. That is Trading Sessions.
No matter if you trade Crypto or Forex the big traders do not trade at times. They trade mostly when the world markets open. If you do not keep track of these sessions you are trading with your eyes closed.
đ The 4 Major Sessions
* Sydney (Asian Kickoff): small moves, tight range â often the start of the dayâs money pool.
* Tokyo (Asian Core): Some movement sets the direction before Europe wakes up.
* London (Heavyweight Volatility): Lots of volume liquidity hunts â often makes the dayâs high or low.
* New York (Trend Continuation): Overlaps with London (1PMâ5PM UTC) â the volume window, where real trends usually appear.
đĄ A Common Session-Based Approach
This is a simple idea that many traders use â it is not a guaranteed system:
1. Mark the high and low of the session (Sydney/Tokyo).
2. Watch the London open â the price normally sweeps the high or low first (liquidity grab).
3. Look for a market structure break (MSB) on a lower time frame (5m or 15m) after the sweep.
4. If the structure confirms the move often continues into the New York overlap.
Tip: If you jump into a trade just because a new session starts the chances of success are small. Wait for the sweep plus the structure break not the time of day.
đȘ Pairs to Watch for Session Volatility
* High-cap leader ($BTC )
â the session sweeps, deepest liquidity.
* Layerâ1 volatility play($ZEC )
â moves during the LondonâNew York overlap.
* Highâbeta altcoin($XAU )
â reacts strongly to range manipulation.
