Quantum computers will be a problem for blocchains. $ZEC has already moved away from proof systems that require a trusted setup, after years of dealing with the risks around ceremony-generated secrets. $STRK is built around STARK proofs, which don’t require that setup and are designed around different cryptographic assumptions. But stronger proofs create another problem: verification. STARK proofs are larger and more expensive to verify directly on-chain, so teams can wrap them in cheaper proof systems to make verification practical. That can put elliptic-curve cryptography and trusted setups back underneath the proof. VFY verifies STARK-family proofs natively, including Risc0, SP1 and Plonky2, without requiring that conversion.
