I’ve been looking at Dusk, and what stands out isn’t just the privacy angleit’s how Dusk could become increasingly embedded in the network’s infrastructure as the architecture expands.
Dusk reports 210M+ Dusk staked against a 1B maximum supply. With 500M initially issued and the remaining supply emitted over time on a schedule that decays by 50% every four years, staking may matter for more than simply locking tokens.
Hyperstaking, introduced in March 2025, pushed that idea further by allowing smart contracts to stake automatically. Dusk also reported 270+ active node operators at the time. Then came the proposed three-layer direction: DuskDS for settlement/data availability, DuskEVM for execution, and a future DuskVM privacy layer.
If $DUSK is used across staking, governance, settlement and gas, its role could gradually shift from a single-network token toward shared infrastructure for multiple layers.
The question is whether the numbers support that thesis. I’d want to see staking concentration, changes in active stake, validator distribution, and actual usage across the execution layers. That’s where the real picture starts.
