BTC and ETH spot ETFs just pulled in $2.07B this month -- already beating April's full-month record, with a single $606M day on Aug 20 alone.

The data: US spot Bitcoin ETFs logged a 4-day inflow streak -- $297.56M (Aug 17), $189.30M (Aug 18), $517.19M (Aug 19, biggest single day in ~3.5 months), then $606M on Aug 20, the largest since May 1. Spot ETH ETFs added $221M on Aug 20, also their 4th straight inflow day and one of the largest single-day ETH inflows in about 10 months. Cumulative BTC ETF inflows since launch now sit at $53.40B. BTC broke above $75,000 this week, its best weekly gain since March 2024; ETH sits near $2,357.

The catch: this is a sharp reversal, not a steady trend. Spot BTC ETFs saw roughly $389.7M in outflows just the week of Aug 10, and both BTC and ETH funds had only just ended a record multi-billion-dollar outflow streak weeks earlier in June. A 4-day inflow streak doesn't establish durability, and the rally looks largely macro-driven -- Fed rate-cut bets, Treasury buyback signals, dollar weakness -- rather than organic crypto-specific demand. A shift in rate expectations could reverse these flows just as fast as they arrived.

Our read: real capital, real numbers, but the pattern of sharp reversals both ways this month means one strong week doesn't confirm a new regime. Falsifiable watch-point: does this inflow streak extend past a week, or does it snap back the moment rate-cut odds shift?

Does a 4-day inflow streak change your view after a month of whipsaw flows, or do you wait for it to hold?

Not financial advice. DYOR.
