Does This Mean the Bull Cycle Has Officially Started?
On August 19, President Donald Trump sat down at the White House with top crypto executives from Coinbase, Kraken (Payward), Blockchain.com and others — and the market immediately took notice.
Here’s what he said:
He urged Congress to push forward a “fair version” of the CLARITY Act, the long-awaited crypto market structure bill that would finally give clear rules for exchanges, issuers, and digital assets. He declared that the United States is “leading by a lot” in both crypto and AI. He confirmed his administration has “ended the war on crypto.” When asked about the U.S. potentially accumulating “sizable amounts” of $BTC and other cryptocurrencies, Trump replied that it has “certainly been talked about” and that he would “certainly listen” to recommendations. He also gave a clear positive signal on Hyperliquid, noting efforts to bring it into the U.S. market in a fully compliant way — sending $HYPE soaring.
On top of that, the SEC this week proposed easing registration requirements for certain digital-asset offerings, removing another regulatory hurdle for early-stage crypto projects.
Combined with the Treasury’s decision to double long-bond buybacks (which crushed yields and flooded risk assets with liquidity), these signals lit a fire under the market. Bitcoin ripped past $70K–$71K, Ethereum jumped 16–19%, and more than $2.7 billion in short positions were liquidated in a historic squeeze.
So… is this the start of a new bull cycle?
It’s still early. One strong day (or even a strong week) doesn’t guarantee a multi-year run. But when the White House, the Treasury, and the SEC all start speaking the same pro-crypto language at the same time — while institutional ETF inflows surge — the setup looks meaningfully different from the grinding range we’ve been stuck in for months.
The regulatory fog is lifting. Liquidity is returning. Shorts have been flushed.
