I keep coming back to one question when I look at blockchain and financial markets:

I see transparency as one of blockchain’s biggest strengths, but I also see its limits. If balances, transactions and counterparties are exposed, I can understand why traditional financial institutions may hesitate to use public blockchains for sensitive assets.

This is why Dusk Network caught my attention. I don't see it as a perfect solution, but I do see it as an attempt to address a real problem.

When I look at Dusk’s architecture, I find its privacy approach particularly interesting. The network supports both transparent and confidential transaction models. Moonlight handles public account-based transactions, while Phoenix uses zero-knowledge technology to keep sensitive transaction information private.

What interests me most is selective disclosure. I don't think financial privacy necessarily means hiding everything from everyone. In my view, a more practical approach is proving that a transaction is valid while allowing authorized parties to access specific information when required.

I also find the Confidential Security Contract, or XSC, important because it is designed around confidential smart contracts and regulated digital assets.

At the same time, I would not ignore the risks. I know that zero-knowledge technology does not automatically eliminate smart-contract bugs, governance problems, regulatory uncertainty or implementation risks.

For me, Dusk is less about creating another blockchain and more about testing whether confidentiality, regulation and blockchain settlement can realistically work together.

I remain cautious, but I think the problem it is trying to solve is worth watching.

My biggest question is this: can a blockchain provide institutions with enough privacy and regulators with enough visibility without sacrificing the decentralization that makes blockchain valuable in the first place?
