When activity is small, extra compute and validation work may not matter much. At scale, it becomes a real operating cost. If rewards fail to keep pace, smaller operators may slowly step away while better funded ones remain. Nothing needs to break for this to matter. The network can keep running while the economics quietly change who can afford to participate.
That is the part I would watch with Dusk. The real test for confidential smart contracts is not just whether they can keep financial data private.
