But that made me wonder:
What happens when the asset is easier to access than the rules around who can own it?
Imagine a private auction.
The auction is completely digital.
The bidding is instant.
But there’s still a guest list.
Being able to see the auction doesn't mean you're allowed to buy what’s being sold.
That distinction becomes important with regulated assets.
I looked into how DUSK handles this, and found access controls + wallet binding sitting inside its market-infrastructure design.
The idea is simple:
First establish that a participant is eligible.
Then bind that verified participant to the wallet interacting with the asset.
Then transfers can be checked against the rules.
So the blockchain isn't only recording:
“Wallet A sent an asset to Wallet B.”
The more interesting question becomes:
“Was Wallet B actually allowed to receive it?”
That changes what “onchain compliance” means to me.
It isn't just storing a KYC result somewhere.
It's connecting identity → eligibility → wallet → transfer inside the same asset workflow.
And this becomes especially interesting as tokenization tries to open traditionally private markets to more investors.
Because making an asset easier to access is only useful if the infrastructure can still answer:
