TermMax doesn’t treat the whole debt position as one simple piece.

#termmax @TermMax Day 2 The Debt Wasn’t What I Expected
Yesterday, I shared the first thing that made me look twice at @TermMax:
DeFi rates keep moving, but sometimes what you really want is predictability.
Today, I went a little deeper.
At first, I thought fixed rate lending would be simple:
you lend, lock a rate, and wait for maturity.
But then I came across something I didn’t expect.
TermMax doesn’t treat the whole debt position as one simple piece.
Instead, the debt can be separated into different parts FT, XT and GT.
And this is where the story started getting interesting.
FT is the fixed rate piece.
It reminded me of a zero coupon bond: you can acquire it below face value and receive the full amount at maturity.
Then there’s XT.
FT and XT together represent the debt value, but behave differently as maturity gets closer. That made me realize:
The fixed rate isn’t just a number displayed on a screen.
It can become a building block inside DeFi.
And GT takes the story one step further.
Instead of leaving collateral and debt scattered across different places, GT represents the whole position as an NFT.
That means the debt itself can become more composable.
FT can be transferred and traded.
GT can represent the leveraged collateral position.
Suddenly, I wasn’t just looking at a lending protocol anymore.
I was looking at an attempt to turn DeFi debt into something that can move through the ecosystem.
But there’s one question I can’t ignore:
If these fixed maturity assets become tradable, where does the liquidity come from?
That question led me to another part of the #TermMax story…
And honestly, Day 3 is where things get even more interesting.
I’m going to talk about the change from order books to AMM style liquidity, and why I think that shift matters more than it first appears.
For now, I’m still watching $TMX and @TermMax closely.
Would you rather hold a fixed rate position until maturity, or trade it before maturity if the market gives you the opportunity?
