I was comparing DUSK rewards across a few epochs and the thing that kept bothering me was how different the burn ratio looked depending on the window I used. Seven days felt noisy, 30 days looked cleaner, 90 days almost hid the movement.
That matters because DUSK’s emission schedule can be fixed while realized supply growth still moves around underneath it.
A 19.8574 DUSK block reward is scheduled issuance. It is not automatically 19.8574 of net new supply if part of that value disappears through credit burns, hard-slashing burns, or other burn activity.
So I would not track only total rewards. I would track burn/reward ratio by 2,160-block epoch, then compare the mean with the median. If one epoch burns 5% and another 20%, the question is not which number looks better. It is what changed in network behavior, fees, penalties, or usage pressure.
This is where most people mix emission with inflation. They are related, not identical.
My doubt is persistence. If high burn intensity lasts for several epochs, that says something different from one extreme week.
For DUSK, the 36-year curve may be predictable. The realized monetary path, maybe less so.
