Dusk was mid-scroll through the GitHub org when it hit me — five separate repos (plonk, piecrust, dusk-bytes, jubjub-schnorr, merkle) all show a last commit on Aug 10, same day. @Dusk . Not a announcement, not a tweet, just quiet parallel commits across the crypto primitives stack. Felt like catching someone mid-work rather than mid-pitch.
Here's the thing that stuck though. The whole pitch is "compliance-ready privacy for institutions" — NPEX, €200M+ in tokenized securities, the works. But when you actually go looking for what's moving on DuskEVM right now, the trail runs cold. Public trackers still had TVL sitting under $1M as of a few months back, and nothing in recent activity suggests that's shifted materially. Meanwhile the actual verifiable output this week is... plonk proof updates and piecrust VM work. Infrastructure for infrastructure's sake, still.
Kind of flipped my read on the project, hold up — not in a bad way. It's just that the "who benefits first" answer right now is clearly devs and the protocol itself, not the institutional users the whole compliance narrative is built around. The NPEX volume is the promise. The commit log is the reality.
Makes me wonder how long that gap is supposed to hold before the RWA side actually shows up on-chain in numbers you can point to
lll.
